Music Ministry
Music has always been an important part of the worship experience at First Christian. Music in the church is an offering to the Glory of God, and the music ministry seeks to create beauty, joy and inspiration as it leads in worship. The music groups welcome new members, whether experienced or beginning. There are no auditions for membership, and the only qualification is a true desire to be of service to God and the church community. For musicians unable to commit to weekly rehearsals, soloists (vocal and instrumental) as well as hymn leaders are always needed and welcomed.
The choir rehearses every Thursday night from 7:00 until 8:30 in the library/classroom. Anyone 14+ is welcome to join. The choir sings almost each week during the 9:30am Worship Service, gathering at 9:00am to warm up and review the anthem. The choir is dark during August for some well-deserved R&R. Choir repertoire is very eclectic. Besides working hard to learn the music, we pray, play, joke, celebrate, love and support each other. In short, we have a grand time. Contact Paulette Westphal.
We have a great group of volunteer musicians who enjoy playing a wide variety of music together and there is always room for others to join us. Whether playing traditional hymns (often in new ways), grooving a Latin beat or rocking a soulful tune, music adds to the spirit and purpose of our 11:00 Worship Service. We are fortunate to have doubles on each instrument, so our musicians have a lot of attendance flexibility. Come be a part of a truly joyful and creative experience. Contact Warren J. McCrickard.
We have a pick-up recorder ensemble that plays upon occasion. There is interest in getting the group rolling again. Anyone who plays - or wants to play - is welcome. We usually rehearse at 11:00 on Sunday mornings, but that's flexible. Contact Paulette Westphal.
