Music has always been an important part of the worship experience at First Christian. Music in the church is an offering to the Glory of God, and the music ministry seeks to create beauty, joy and inspiration as it leads in worship.

The music groups welcome new members, whether experienced or beginning. There are no auditions for membership, and the only qualification is a true desire to be of service to God and the church community.

For musicians unable to commit to weekly rehearsals, soloists (vocal and instrumental) as well as hymn leaders are always needed and welcomed.

Choir
The choir rehearses every Thursday night from 7:00 until 8:30 in the choir room. Anyone 15+ is welcome to join. The choir sings almost each week during the 9:30am Worship Service, gathering at 9:00am to warm up and review the anthem. The choir takes off during August for some well-deserved R&R.

Choir repertoire includes traditional church classics such as "Alleluia" by Randall Thompson, contemporary anthems, praise music, gospel and spirituals, and inspirational music such as "The Prayer" and "God Help the Outcasts."

On special occasions, the children participate during the worship services with music they have prepared, under the direction of Joy Brittain. Recently they sang "African Alleluia" with the choir. See pictures!

Besides working hard to learn the music, we pray, play, joke, celebrate, love and support each other. In short, we have a grand time. Singing with the choir is a terrific way to plug in to our church community. Come see what you're missing!

Worship Band
The band rehearses at varied times. Check with Pastor Steve. Anyone is welcome to join - singers and instrumentalists. The band leads the music worship each Sunday during the 11:00am Contemporary Praise Service.

Band repertoire includes contemporary praise music such as "Shout to the North" and "Open the Eyes of My Heart, Lord." Playing and/or singing with the group is a terrific way to plug in to our church community. Come share your talent, ideas and music charts!

Recorder Ensemble
The recorder ensemble (The DOCs) is a relatively new endeavor at FCC. We have soprano, alto, tenor and bass recorders. What a blast - and how fast we're learning! We meet most every Sunday following the worship service, at 10:45 in the nursery. Anyone interested in joining us, contact Paulette.
